In February 2005, Medicular submitted a proposal to the Kuwait Foundation for Advancement of Sciences (KFAS). The purpose of the proposal was to develop a molecular imaging centre for diagnosis and to attract international clinical research to Kuwait. Medicular successfully raised USD $58.9 million in a private public partnership. Named in the Honour of the late Emir who approved the project, the Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah Molecular Imaging Centre hosts an impressive combination of Molecular Imaging technology dedicated for Cardiovascular, Oncology and Neurological studies. The centre includes a 64 slice PET/CT, a SPECT/CT, a 16 MeV Cyclotron with capability to produce FFDG 18, C11, N13, and O15, along with a GMP production facility. In 2013, the centre’s operations were handed over to the Kuwait Foundation for Advancement of Sciences.
